Long before 'Cabwise' there was minicabsbytext. The Mayor of London in association with the Met launched 

The Safer Travel at Night initiative last year in response to increasing attacks on women travelling by unlicensed minicabs at night

Minicabsbytext is a message based mini-cab directory service that allows easy access to hundreds of licensed mini-cabs in the capital. 

Our service allows anyone to make cab enquires via text messages from mobile phones. This is done by simply texting the word “CAR” followed by the first half of the post coded area and sending this message to a designated number which is 60030.

The user’s postcode is then automatically matched with a database of local minicab stations in that precise postcode - all in a split second. The user then receives a text message in return with the address and contact details for two licensed mini cab stations within that exact postcode.

We went a step futher, and lanuched in minicab pocket directory, sold in WHSMITH and distributed to 2000 newsagent via menzies distribution
